Otalia

I have a semi-new obsession. It's called 'Otalia' and consists of two characters on the soap opera Guiding Light. I tried explaining the story line to a friend once. I'll copy/paste.

Natalie (Jessica Leccia) & Olivia (Crystal Chappell)

Short version Otalia:

Show: Guiding Light (American Soap Opera)

Characters: Olivia Spencer & Natalia Rivera 

Background history: Natalia is a Christian woman who was married to Gus. She has a son, Rave, who went to prison, Gus died. Olivia runs a hotel while, all of a sudden, her heart give out. Natalia offers her Gus's heart although Olivia had previously made a pass at her husband. Olivia survives the transplant and goes back to work, offering Natalia a job as her assistant now she's sick. When her heart fails again, Olivia is rushed to the hospital after Natalia and a friend keep her alive. Natalia realizes she doesn't want to loose Olivia (and Gus's heart) and takes the job. Olivia survives her next operation and gets a pacemaker. Natalia offers to take Olivia and her daughter Emma into her home to take care of her and she can pay her mortgage. Slowly they become friends. Then emma has a school assignment and she writes an essay about her two mommies which she proudly reads to all the parents. Olivia freaks at the reactions while natalia doesn't see the problem. In a heated argument Olivia kisses Natalia to try and make her understand what all the parents were thinking, shocking very Christian Natalia. 

Where are they now: Right now both women are coming to terms with their budding romantic feelings separately. They keep talking in code to each other while Olivia has begun to open up to others around her about her attraction to a woman (for the first time). She knows Natalia likes her back and Emma will be okay with whatever happens but she knows Natalia's faith might keep her from giving in to her feelings. Natalia is dealing with things differently. She slept with Frank, a man she had been sort of seeing, as a kind of test thing and now regrets it very much. She told Olivia and she knows she's hurt her deeply. Now Frank has proposed to Natalia and Natalia is debating with herself to either say yes or no. Although it's hurting Olivia, Olivia just wants Natalia happy and has half-heartedly encouraged Natalia to seek that happiness with Frank if she can. All the while there is Emma's dad, the person whom has kidnapped her before, who's now back in town. The women are bonding over protecting Emma now but moving very, very slow.

Anyway, the reason for this post? It's been about a week since the last Otalia update on GL and like any good addict, I'm going frantic! So I've been scouring the interwebs for new material or fanvids and, perhaps as an introduction for some, I have decided to post one here.
